Driver’s Safety – What can I do to help my Driving Record?
If you are 25+ years of age – do not possess a Commercial Drivers license – and have not committed any of the following offenses:
-Fail to give information at an accident
-Leaving the scene of an accident
-Illegal Passing of a School Bus
-Offenses occurred while driving a commercial vehicle
-Offense occurred in a construction zone where workers were present
-25 MPH over the posted speed limitYour violation can be dismissed by paying an Administrative Fee of $144.00 to the Honey Grove Municipal Court.

If you are under 25 years old, do not have a Commercial Drivers License and you are charged with a moving violation, the state requires you to take a Driver’s Safety Course that has been approved by the Texas Education Agency.In order to be eligible for dismissal, you must NOT have committed any of the following offenses:
-Fail to give information at an accident
-Leaving the scene of an accident
-Illegal Passing of a School Bus
-Offenses occurred while driving a commercial vehicle
-Offense occurred in a construction zone where workers were present
-Driving 25 or more miles over the posted speed limit
-Have not completed driver’s safety for dismissal of a citation within 12 months***IF YOU ARE UNDER 25 YEARS OLD AND MEET THE ABOVE CRITERIA, PLEASE FOLLOW THE STEPS BELOW TO FULFILL YOUR DISMISSAL***
Step 1:
Enter a plea of Guilty or No Contest to the Court.Step 2:
Pay the FULL COST of the fines involved in your violation(s)
Provide Proof of Insurance (Insurance must not be expired)
Provide a Valid Texas Driver’s License or an Active Duty Military ID (Form of ID must not be expired)Step 3:
Complete a Driver’s Safety Course within 90 days of Court AppearanceThe Completion of a Driver’s Safety Course is REQUIRED by the State of Texas.
(Driver’s Safety Course must be approved by the Texas Education Agency)

Present the following documents to the Municipal Court:-Certified Copy of Driving Record (TYPE 3A)*

-Driver’s Safety Course – Certificate of Completion
-Valid Texas Drivers License or Active Duty Military ID Card
-Proof of InsuranceFailure to Complete Driver’s Safety Course***
If you fail to take the required course in the 90 days following your appearance – or if you fail to deliver the required documents to the court, the court can/will schedule a Show Cause hearing. The show cause hearing will provide you an opportunity to explain why you failed to complete your responsibilities. The judge may, but is not required to, allow you to file the proper documentation at that time. If you do not appear to your show cause hearing, additional fines can/will be assessed and a warrant for your arrest can/will be posted. -
State law requires you to “make an appearance” on your case and its matters.
You must appear or contact the court within 10 calendar days of your citation.There are several ways for you to appear before the court:
-Call the Court Clerk before your court date and complete the required forms.
-You may arrive in person
-You and your attorney may appear in person during open court
-You may deliver your plea in writing to the courtIf you choose to enter a plea of not guilty on your case – you must appear in person during Open Court.
Payments made to the Honey Grove Municipal Court without a plea will be documented as NO CONTEST and applied to your outstanding balance.
MINORS/JUVENILES (UNDER 17 YEARS OF AGE)
Minors/Juveniles must appear in person on their scheduled court date while in the presence of a Parent or Legal Guardian.

A plea is a defendant’s response to a charge.
You can submit a plea in-person or in-writing to the court address listed at the top and bottom of this webpage.
There are multiple different manners in which you can plea:
NO CONTEST
If you do not wish to contest the State’s charge(s) against you. You will waive your right to a trial – and you will be required to pay any/all fines and attributed Court Costs. You will be found guilty for the charges the State has placed on you.GUILTY
You are admitting that your act was prohibited by law. You are admitting that you commited the act that was charged. You are waiving your right to trial and you will be required to pay any/all fines and attributed Court Costs.NOT-GUILTY
You are denying guilt. You are not waiving any of your rights. The State is now required to prove your guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. You will need to appear in person on your scheduled court date. -
You have an option to pay $50.00 + the cost of your fines to have your Citation not appear on your driving record.
In order to qualify for a deferral, you must:
-Not possess a Commercial Driver’s License
-Must not have any other deferrals in the past 12 months.

-Proof of Valid ID during Time of Offense shown to the court before the first court appearance.Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility (No Insurance)
There is no charge for the dismissal of this violation if proof of financial responsibility can be shown to the court showing a valid insurance policy held during the time of the offense before the first court appearance.Expired Registration

-Defect or Registration must be remedied by the time of first court appearance. -
