State law requires you to “make an appearance” on your case(s) and its matters. You must appear or contact the court within 10 calendar days of your citation.
There are several ways for you to appear before the court:
Call the Court Clerk before your court date and complete the required forms.
You may arrive in person
You and your attorney may appear in person during open court
You may deliver your plea in writing to the court
If you choose to enter a plea of not guilty on your case – you must appear in person during Open Court.
Payments made to the Honey Grove Municipal Court without a plea will be documented as NO CONTEST and applied to your outstanding balance.
Minors / Juveniles (Under 17 Years of Age)
Minors / Juveniles must appear in person on their scheduled court date while in the presence of a Parent or Legal Guardian.

There are multiple different manners in which you can plea:
No Contest
If you do not wish to contest the State’s charge(s) against you. You will waive your right to at trial – and you will be required to pay any/all fines and attributed Court Costs. You will be found guilty for the charges the State has placed on you.
Guilty
You are admitting that your act was prohibited by law. You are admitting that you committed the act that was charged. You are waiving your right to trial and you will be required to pay any/all fines and attributed Court Costs.
Not-Guilty
You are denying guilt. You are not waiving any of your rights. The State is now required to prove your guilt beyond a reasonable doubt. You will need to appear in person on your scheduled court date.

Expired Driver’s License – or – Failure to Update Driver’s License

Proof of Valid ID during Time of Offense shown to the Court before the first Court Appearance.
Failure to Maintain Financial Responsibility ( No Insurance )
There is no charge for the dismissal of this violation if proof of financial responsibility can be shown to the court showing a valid Insurance Policy held during the time of the offense before the first court appearance.
Expired Registration
$20.00 Dismissal Fee
Defect or Registration must be remedied by the time of first court appearance.
