FILING DATES FOR THE CITY OF HONEY GROVE ELECTION


The City Election will be held May 8, 2010 from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Honey Grove Independent Schools Civic Center. The election will be for a Mayor and (2) two positions for Alderman on the City Council. Terms ending will be Mayor Harold Roberts, Alderman Andy Lane and Alderman Greg Beavers. Following is a list of dates for the upcoming City General Election. All positions will be two year terms. You can pick up an application at the City Secretary’s Office. To be eligible to run for Mayor or an Alderman on the City Council, a candidate must be a U.S. citizen and qualified voter of the City of Honey Grove; 18 years of age or older on the first day of the term to be filled at the election, have not been determined mentally incompetent, have not been convicted of a felony, have lived continuously in the State for 12 months, and in the City for six months immediately preceding the election date and must not be in arrears in the payment of any taxes or other liability due to the City of Honey Grove


Monday February 8th The first date to file for Mayor and Alderman.

Monday March 8th: The last day to file for Mayor and Alderman.

Thursday March 11th: Drawing for places on the ballot at 10:00 a.m. in the City
Secretary’s office.

Monday April 26th : First day of Early Voting for the City Elections.

Tuesday May 4th: Last day for Early Voting.

Saturday May 8th : City voting located at Hall – Voyer Learning Center at
540 North 6th Street Honey Grove, Texas

Polls open 7:00 a.m. through 7:00 p.m.

Due to HB 2309, 79th Legislative Session, the City must be open two weekdays for 12 hours during the early voting period. Dates and Times will be published at a later date.
